Our First 100 Days
As I reflect back on my first 100 days, I’m in awe of what we’ve been able to accomplish. We started our Thursday morning 6am walks at Lakeview Park and that has grown into a small group that eagerly anticipates our time together. We’ve held 2 Lynvinia concerts which brought the community out on a Friday evening and Sunday afternoon for some much needed fun and fellowship. We’ve hosted 4 movie nights where families from not just Lynwood enjoyed Grease, The Wiz, The Incredibles and Black Panther. As if the summer couldn’t get any better, we were able to bring Lynwood Fest back. It was great to see everyone having fun, meeting new neighbors and enjoying a fun-filled day.
Behind the scenes we have been working hard to move this village forward. With very little prep time and very little historical data, our Finance Director was able to create a budget that puts on the path towards becoming financially sound. Public Works has been out responding to your requests and planning for future projects. We’ve hired 5 new police officers which allows us to increase patrol and and now we’re preparing to add more support by creating a tactical team. There will be an exciting announcement that’s coming from our Fire Department this Fall. The Trustees have been busy recruiting residents to join a variety of committees and they have hit the ground running. They are meeting, planning and implementing based on your feedback. Our clerk has been working on getting accurate records in place. As for me, I’ve been spending my days, meeting with existing and potential businesses to move us towards a self-sustaining village. Be on the lookout for our new Dollar General, Dunkin Donuts, L Restaurant and Sweet Potato Patch distribution center and market to name a few. I’ve enjoyed meeting many of you and addressing your concerns. I’m working with department heads everyday to make sure that we are all focused on growth and stability for Lynwood. There is much work to be done and we are continuing to think outside the box to transform our village. John F. Kennedy once said, “All this will not be finished in the first one hundred days. Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand days…nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.” Lynwood, we have begun and there is much more to come! Every day I wake up with a tremendous sense of purpose and gratitude that I’m able to serve this amazing village.
Yours In Service,
