Hot Home Building Pace Continues
Lynwood is experiencing a home construction boom. Residential development is under way or planned at sites throughout the Village.
Excalibur Construction Company is building 17 upscale single-family homes west of Torrence Avenue between Glenwood-Dyer and Joe Orr Roads. Home prices will begin in the mid-$300,000 range. Excalibur has constructed streets and poured home foundations.
Ken Baldwin, president of Ironwood Development, an Excalibur Company subcontractor, said Excalibur also has a 90-lot residential project planned for property west of Burnham Avenue between 198th and 201st Streets. This development, to be called Estates of Lake Lynwood has received Village Board approval. The Excalibur firm was the developer of Sonstead Farms, a recently completed subdivision of 80 custom, luxury homes.
Stan Reinsma Construction Company will build single-family homes in the $300,000 price range in the Haven Estates subdivision on Glenwood-Dyer Road. Construction will begin this spring at the 74-lot Haven Estates Unit 2 site.
Plans also are moving forward for Ambry Estates, a 44-acre subdivision west of Torrence Avenue at 179th Street. Ambry Estates developer Val Nichols said 110 single-family homes starting at $250,000 will be built. Homes will feature three to five bedrooms.
John Davis Development Company, builder of the existing Park Avenue and Terrace Town Homes developments in Lynwood, is planning a third town house project. The firm will construct the 62-unit Creekside Pointe Town Homes just East of Torrence Avenue and South of 201st Street. Two and three-bedroom residences with garages are planned.
